On that first morning in Europe I posted this picture on facebook of the sun rising over Lake Zurich.
The accompanying message could not have been more prescient.
Wendy had some really rough weather in the week before meeting me and our second day on the road was accompanied by a gale coming down the valley we were trying to ride up.
Apart from that there was a storm when we were camped at Inverness that stopped me catching up with the bus tour that Megan & I were scheduled to be on. We sheltered in a bus shed and had our lunch to avoid a big storm on the way to Aviemore.
In an article in The Scotsman it says :- The Met Office said of 2018 it will be Scotland’s second sunniest year on record, after 1995, with 17 per cent more sunshine than average.
May was Scotland’s sunniest since records began in 1929 and also the equal warmest - with 2008 – with a mean temperature of 10.7C.
