This guy walked in last night, carrying that pack.

His name is Chris Shipley from Hampshire and he is undertaking the challenge of running around the coast of Britain in aid of the charity Scope, he aims to return to his home before Christmas. He started in February and ran up the east coast and is now working his way down the west coast.

He had come over Applecross so we were talking to him about that hill.

He told us that just as he started down he met a couple riding up and she was complaining bitterly and saying that this was without doubt the worst day of her life. That was sufficient to convince us to take the main road and not attempt the big hill.
