We ride out of town along the loch to the south, a quick stop at the general store for some supplies and then we head inland with a steady climb for 4 kms.

At the top of the climb our descent is interrupted by some roadworks.

A couple of kms up the road we passed the turnoff.
The direct route up the A896 is a single lane road with frequent passing bays. It begins with a 7Km uphill where we came across a a guy on a recumbent tricycls and we rode with him for some kms. He was an interesting chap, involved with releasing native predatory animals back into the wild, principally to contain the wild deer population which is out of control and destroying native fauna. |
