A long gradual climb and descent largely beside the A9 as we circle around the Cairngorms

Just short of Blair Atho,l in the middle of nowhere, we found ourselves in an ultra modern shopping village. Had a good lunch.

We camped at Faskally, just short of Pitlochry. Very cold,here we first saw the surf caftan/beach poncho towel being worn by a couple of young guys in a van.They used them to change in when playing soccer. Spent some time chatting to them as we were just buying our VW Caddies and we were keen to check out potential modificatons. They also wore them when they were surfing on the west coast, they used to wear steamer suits but still come out frozen to the bone, then they would sit in the van with the heater on full bore and cry in pain as their bodies thawed out.
