A gentle slightly uphill ride following some creeks and canals on very quite backroads for 25kms to Darinmaree and then 30 kms even gentler ride downhill to Montbellard.
The highlight of the morning was a number of Nutria ( water rats) which we watched for some time.
Montellbard was a bit of a mess with huge roadworks making it quite difficult to navigate.
There was a problem with our accommodation and we decided to catch a train a few kilometres down the road to get away from the road works.
This was not as simple as it sounds, France was in the midst of rolling strikes on the rail network. In theory the strikes were two days in five, but not uniformally across the country. There was no way of knowing what trains were running when apart from going to the station and asking the staff. Thank heavens I was travlling with a fluent french speaker. Wendy ascertained that there would be a train coming some time in the next two hours, so we found a corner with charging staions for our phones and settled down to wait.
Eventually it arrive and we headed down to L'Isle de Boud and a quaint little camping area. |
