Wendy had an electronic location finder, an EPIRB, which when hooked to the Internet would show us in Australia her location within metres.
Today Wendy caught a train from Edinburgh down to Clitheroe in the Midlands and then rode the 32kms to Preston for the Cycle Touring Conference. She set up her tent in a field by the Ribble River and we were able to see her location thanks to the EPIRB and Google maps.
The details on Wendy's movements prior to meeting up wih Neil are largely gained from her mobile phone photos and her Garmin bicycle computer along with a few brief recollections of convesations that we had whilst cycling around Europe over the next 3 months.(4 years ago)
Wendy was understandably nervous having travelled half way round the world to attend a conference that sh knew little about and new no-one there. But her fears were allayed the next morning in the queue for breakfast when she was adopted by a group of cyclists from Ireland. They got on like a house on fire, so much so that Wendy spent the last two weeks of her holiday in Ireland riding with them.
