On the 1st of May 2016, Wendy & Neil flew into Zurich after a long overnight flight from Brisbane via Dubai. A quick taxi trip from the airport had them in Zahingerplatz in time to meet the lady with the key to their air-bnb for the next few days.
Between the Swiss Church & Zahingerplatz runs Spitalgasse, just above the "ss" our flat is indicated by two small crosses. The surrounding area is known as the Altstadt or historical core of the city.
On the other side of the Limmat is the Lindenhof, a moraine hill and a public square in the historic center of Zürich, Switzerland. It is the site of the Roman and Carolingian era Kaiserpfalz around which the city has historically grown.
The area to the south is known as the Schipfe quarter which extends to the Wienplatz which is linked to the Altstadt by the Rathausbrucke.
Two days was barely enough to explore this unique area. |
