A pleasant days ride along the river. We stopped for morning tea at a little village square with a church and a ladies group with a roadside stall. We already had our morning tea from the market in Ingolstadt so we just sat on the town centre fountain and watched.
Along the road we had a number of options as to which side of the river to ride and at one point we plunged down this track and a car followed us down blowing his horn, eventually we stopped and he explained that there was no way through on this side and we had to cross to the othe side. As we got back to the bridge a group we had passed earlier arrived and I signalled to them that we had to cross here.
Wendy and I discussed their nationality and decided they could be French.
Exploiting my natural gift for languages, I caught up to their tail rider and asked if they were French, she said oui, I explained that I spoke little French but my daughter, indicating Wendy, spoke it very well.
They may not have detoured to the Abbey as they were setting up as we arrived at the campsite.
Wendy had a good chat with them and learnt they were travelling in a group with a support car containing their packs and one took a turn to drive each day.
A little while later a couple with a small child rode in and chatted with the French group.
They had met each other previously on the road. The next morning the little boy was pushing a large toy car around the yard and got stuck so I went to help him out. He quickly sensed what a pushover I was and for the next hour he had me helping him do stuff all round the campsite.
Eric & I became good mates and played together for the next week, he didn't say much which was convenient as I wouldmn't have inderstood him anyway.
