My friends Kevin & Laura live near Halfway Creek, about 20kms north west of Red Rock.This fire grew in intensity all afternoon. They ae heavily involved with Rural Fire Service so I was watching his facebook postings carefully as we had to drive that way the next day. Overnight the fire became too strong for the local brigade and the NSW Fire and Rescue were called in along with crews from Coffs Harbour. It came within a few kms of their home and burnt out 6000 ha.

This was the start of the worst bushfire season Australia has ever expeienced.
