What a beautiful day of riding. After yesterday the weather was magnificcnt, the wind had gone the sun was out, fabulous day.
Fifteen miles alongside Loch Maree and then over a range and down to Gairloch.
We had lunch overlooking the harbour and being entertained by a fellow cyclist and itenerant worker from the continent. Her idea of lunch was 2 cans of beer and four cigarettes.
It was here that we noticed the clouds of smoke to the south. The smoke was being blown out over the ocean which unfortunately obscured our views of Skye & the Hebrides.
Imagine our surprise when we arrived at Big Sand and found it was fighting two scrub fires.
The highlight of the campsite was finding that if I stood near a British Telecom phonebox my Telstra Fon system clicked in and I could call Megan back in Oz at no charge. This was handy as we had very little internet whilst in Scotland.
