Eglise Saint Aubin Gennes Camping Area Gennes

(Translated by Google)-As if you need to be told.

A very authentic image of the public space that were the churches of the Romanesque period. A church built in the 11th and 12th centuries, enlarged a transept and a tower in the 13th century that will be topped by a bell tower in the 15th century. At the same time, it acquires the nave of a wooden vault.

Abandoned building early 19th, it will be beautifully restored in the middle of the same century. This restoration results in a church in nice condition.

Today's visitors find a bare church, if not empty, but very authentic. Arches, barrel-vaulted, domed trunk, vaulted sanctuary in half dome, carved decorations, all reflect the original building, reflection reinforced by the empty places. Originally, these public places saw penetrate even people on horseback.

The campsite is located on the banks of the Loire, in the center of the village of Gennes-Val-de-Loire, between Saumur and Angers. It welcomes travelers in a natural setting for a friendly stay. It has a swimming pool.

You can take part in the tournament planned throughout the summer period, especially petanque. A ping-pong table is available on site. Many playgrounds and pony rides are available for children. The establishment organizes magic animations and local wine tastings. There is no shortage of ideas for walks or bike rides.

On the service side, the bakery offering regional products is open in July and August. The campsite is equipped with a Wifi access. Breakfasts with croissants and baguettes are delivered every morning. There is a restaurant and a refreshment point with local drinks. You can also enjoy a massage session. Shopping facilities are within easy reach

A very small village, Gennes...

There was a very nice camping area on the banks of the Loire and luckily it had a shop and a Crepe van because we struggled to find any shops.

The village is overlooked by this old church at the top of a very steep path,on top of a hill is the church of St. Eusebius which hosts the memorial to the cadets who fell during a heroic resistance to the invading German forces. Nearly 800 cadets fought with very limited means in order to delay as much as possible the advance of the German army.

If you want a couple of quiet days, fishing or painting then this is a very pleasnt place to do it. Even looking the town up on Google and checking the ten best things to do in town and it reccommends visits to all the surrounding towns.
